A variety of holidays can be enjoyed at our holiday villa, including relaxing by the pool, visiting nearby beaches, water sports, horse riding, scuba diving, golf and walking in the countryside. Spain's premiere skiing, in the Sierra Nevada mountains, is available in the winter and spring.

The lively and vibrant centre of Almuñecar has a classical Spanish atmosphere and has so far avoided being dominated by tourism. The Moorish and Phoenician architectural heritage shows up in the winding passages and cobbled squares of the old quarter as well as the prominent castle. The town also has several markets, good restaurants, a bird park, several beaches and a water park, all easily reachable from the holiday villa. Modern supermarkets, banks and other facilities are also available.

The magnificent city of Granada with its famous Alhambra palace is only 40 minutes away by car, with high quality skiing in the nearby Sierra Nevada mountains from December to April. Seville, another great destination, can be reached in 3 hours. Skiing in the morning and the beach in the afternoon can be an option during the winter. There are unlimited walking opportunities in the Alpujarra mountains within 1-2 hours drive.

The Costa Tropical is an up-and-coming area that has long been known to Spanish holidaymakers and is now starting to attract more foreign visitors. The town of Almuñecar maintains its authentically Spanish character while welcoming international holidaymakers, a key factor in our family's decision to invest here. We plan to spend as much time here as possible!

This may be the best climate in Europe. Compared to the rest of the Spanish south coast, the Costa Tropical is particularly mild in the winter and relatively cool and comfortable during the summer. There are more than 320 sunny days each year.

The nearest airport is Malaga Airport (about 1 hour drive), but also Almeria and Granada are an option. A car is recommended and car hire can be arranged. We spent most of our time at the outside table enjoying the long evenings and the BBQ (Braai for any South Africans out there:)). The Infinity Pool sealed the deal being a wonderful place to relax and drink in the view of the surrounding mountains and ocean. Be prepared though, the drive up to the Villa is a steep one. We found the Villa perfectly placed Geographically, only an hours drive to the Alhambra and if we had had more time we could have easily popped into Malaga as well. It is very comfortable and has everything you need. The views are magnificent. You definitely need a car as the walk back up the hill can be very strenuous (we did it only once !) The pools are both great and were not crowded even in the height of season. We particularally enjoyed exploring the older parts of the town and visiting the daily fish and veg market. We found parking in town difficult (in August). We were a little disapointed to find that accessing the pools required a short walk on a private road. The house is very clean and easily accomadates 8 people, well decked out and all agreed it was a great place to stay,(and my in laws are fussy so and sos).The pools are great but could be open longer hours (noon - 8pm). Everything clean and new. The pool is lovely as well. Only one real problem - we had to buy 3 fans in order to try and use the bedrooms which didn't have air-conditioning - and even with a fan the top bedroom was too hot to use to sleep at this time of year. However, the room with air-conditioning was very comfortable. WE also had a problem with the upstairs bathroom but the managers were very prompt to respond and very helpful."
